Kuala Lumpur 26 Aug – The recently gazetted Employment (Amendment) Act 2022 that was supposed to come into effect from the 1st September 2022 across Malaysia is set to be postponed 3 months, as announced on Astro Awani.
Malaysian Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan has just declared the postponement of the Employment (Amendment) Act 2022 from 1st Sept 2022 to 1st Jan 2023.
This Amendment was set to implement major changes to HR, Labour and Industrial Relations Laws in Malaysia. These adjustments included changing the very definition of an Employee in a company to the hours of work and minimum benefits that personnel are expected to receive.

Not much was revealed regarding the reason for this postponement, but it does provide respite to businesses and HR departments across Malaysia by allowing more time to adapt to the gazetted updates.
